WARKA Brewery
In 1971, the Ministry of Food Industry decided to build a brewery in Warka. In 1973, work began in the north-west part of the Town. The idea was to utilize the name recognition created by famous Warka breweries of the past. Beer production started in 1975. Until May 1976, the brewery in Warka was part of a bigger brewery called Zakłady Piwowarskie in Warsaw. Zakłady Piwowarskie in Warka was established on June 1, 1976.
In November 1994, the brewery was privatized, and several months later adopted the name Browary Warka Sp. z o.o. (Warka Brewery, Inc.) This moment marked the beginning of robust development. New investments increased the quality, which was promoted together with the new image of the Warka plant.
Hard work paid off. In November 1997, the Polish Business Club named Warka brewery “Company of the Year”. In 1998, the company sold over one billion hectoliters of beer for the first time! In 1999, Warka brewery became part of the conglomerate Grupa Żywiec S.A, , which is owned by the Dutch multinational Heineken.
Today, it is one of the most modern plants in Europe. Just like brewers centuries ago, it contributes to Warka’s fame as a town producing an excellent domestic beer.
