Opening of the Kraków-Warsaw rail line with a train station in Warka, 1934

On November 25, 1934, the first train of the newly opened Kraków-Warsaw trunk line passed through Warka. The train made many stops on its inaugural voyage to allow proper celebrations, which in Kraków featured President Ignacy Mościcki and in Radom, Sandomierz Bishop Włodzimierz Jasiński, and Prime Minister Leon Kozłowski. The town of Warka also organized a formal ceremony. The crowd of Warka residents was welcomed by Grójec District Governor Felicjan Pawłowski and Warka Mayor Col. Józef Paczkowski. It was a joyful occasion!

Already in 1934 the event was included by Wiktor Krawczyk in his “The Chronicle of the Town of Warka” (“Kronika Miasta Warki”): “The opening of the rail line constitutes a very important developmental factor for Warka.” Krawczyk was well aware how truly significant this day was. Currently, the necessity of rail transport in Warka is widely recognized and one can freely say that Warka would not be the town it is today without it.
