Casimir Pulaski Warka Town Boosters

Casimir Pulaski Warka Town Boosters (Towarzystwo Miłośników Miasta Warki im. Kazimierza Pułaskiego) was founded on September 13, 1965 based on a statute approved by the Department of Interior Affairs (Urząd Spraw Wewnętrznych) in Warsaw in December 1965 and was listed as No. 2259 in the registry of associations.

The Organization’s initiator and first chairman was Olgierd Puciata, the first director of the Casimir Pulaski Museum. The list of founders includes: Head of the Warka Town and Municipality Zdzisław Pilski, Secretary Hanna Sęk, Culture Inspector at the Grójec District Office Tadeusz Kulawik, and teachers Władysław Janus, Leon Nawrocki, and Aleksander Gajewski. Even before the Organization was made official, many researchers living in Warsaw and other Polish cities voiced their desire to be a part of it. The Book and Press Club (Klub Książki i Prasy) at the Mechanical Equipment Factory (Fabryka Urządzeń Mechanicznych) in Warka became the institution’s temporary office. After the Museum opened, the Town Boosters chose it to be their primary seat. Museum Director Anna Kornatek was chosen as the chairwoman.

Warka Town Boosters wanted to focus on preserving the Town’s monuments and historic sites, conduct research into the Town’s past, and explore the potential present and future economic and cultural development of Warka and its environs. Another important goal was to promote Warka through advertising materials, including posters and brochures which would showcase the history and natural beauty of the Town.

The Organization also issues the socio-cultural monthly “The New Warka Echo” (“Nowe Echo Warki”), which is distributed throughout the region free of charge (in the years 1997–2004 it was published under the name “Warka Echo”).

On October 11, 2015, on the 236th anniversary of the death of their namesake Casimir Pulaski, Warka Town Boosters observed their 50th anniversary. It is one of the oldest social organizations in Warka.
