Social Services Center

Officially called the Town and Municipality Social Services Center in Warka, the Center was established on the basis of Resolution No. XIII/63/90 of the State Council in Warka and Municipality dated April 24, 1990 as a public sector entity managed by the Council. 

The Center in Warka looks to implement accepted social policies, which target and safeguard basic needs, in a quest to provide equal opportunities and raise living standards.

In particular, the Center seeks to:

  • analyze and assess the processes that are behind the need to apply for social welfare payments,
  • grant and pay out benefits in accordance with the Social Welfare Act,
  • provide assistance for needy families,
  • grant and pay out alimony and child support in case of the former spouse’s or the parent’s inability to comply with the support order,
  • grant and pay out child care benefits,
  • grant and pay out legal guardianship benefits,
  • grant and pay out one-time benefits following the birth of a child diagnosed with a severe and irreversible disability or an incurable and life-threatening illness sustained or incurred in the prenatal period or during childbirth,
  • grant and pay out school start-up allowances,
  • provide social work to help individuals and families strengthen or regain their ability to be functional members of the society e.g. by creating the right conditions,
  • implement assignments within government welfare schemes aimed at safeguarding appropriate living standards of individuals, families, and social groups and offering relevant specialist support,
  • perform any and all other activities to address the needs of the local community, in particular those counteracting marginalization, social exclusion, and pathologies,
  • protect individuals and families affected by domestic violence,
  • implement the municipal strategy to solve social problems,
  • provide administrative support for the Interdisciplinary Team,
  • provide administrative support for the Municipal Commission to Solve Alcohol-Related Problems in Warka,
  • establish and implement special shield programs,
  • grant and pay out scholarships and school allowances,
  • perform tasks arising in connection with the Large Family Card Act for numerous families with three or more children,
  • implement any and all tasks arising from current legal regulations.

The Center operates on the legal basis laid out in the Strategy to Solve Social Problems in the Warka Municipality in the years 2021–2030, passed by the Warka Town Council on March 11, 2021.

The Warka social services center also runs a Consultation Center, which offers legal advice and therapy. Both lawyers and psychologists provide expert consultations for individuals and families from Warka and its environs. The first offers counseling and therapy for those addicted to alcohol and/or other psychoactive substances as well as for victims of domestic violence. The latter offers legal advice regarding the Social Welfare Act, the Anti-Domestic Violence Act, the Sobriety Act as well as the Family Code.
