Auntie Ola’s Theater <\/h1>\n

The Theater operated from the 1950s to the 1970s at the Mazovian Winery (Mazowiecka Wytw\u00f3rnia Win) <\/em>in Warka. Its founder was Aleksandra Lewandowska, who was an amateur director and community activist, working at the Winery.<\/p>\n

Aleksandra Lewandowska was a woman of two passions: culture and sports. Even before the War, she created a sports club in Warka, which had soccer, swimming, and kayaking teams, as well as an ice rink. After the War, Auntie Ola started working at the Winery in its socio-cultural department. She graduated from a course for amateur theater directors in \u0141\u00f3d\u017a and used the newly acquired skills to create a drama club at her workplace. She worked with over two hundred persons, including children and youth.<\/p>\n

To a great extent, Warka cultural life depended on the building at the company used by the Theater, which was available to all Warka residents, who still remember their drama performances (like Aleksander Fredro’s comedies), poetry and music shows, and costume balls.<\/p>\n

Aleksandra Lewandowska died on March 4, 1992, in Nowy S\u0105cz in the south of Poland.<\/p>\n
