The Museum opened in 1967 in a venue which presumably used to feature a manor belonging to the family of District Governor Joseph Pulaski, who lived there in the 18th<\/sup> century.<\/p>\n The permanent exhibition is located inside the manor, which was decorated in the spirit of an old, Polish noble home from the late 18th<\/sup>\/early 19th<\/sup> centuries. One can see sets of furniture, paintings, fabrics, porcelain, silver, old maps, documents, and prints and learn about the life and times of Casimir Pulaski (1745-1779), who reportedly spent his childhood in Warka.<\/p>\n General Pulaski was one of the most gifted leaders of the Bar Confederation, defender of Jasna G\u00f3ra against Russian troops, and a Brigadier General in the American Revolutionary War. He died at Savannah, GA.<\/p>\n Other rooms feature prominent Poles who, like General Pulaski, made history in the United States: Tadeusz Kosciuszko, Julian Ursyn Niemcewicz, Helena Modjeska, and Ignacy Jan Paderewski.<\/p>\n Since its beginnings, the Casimir Pulaski Museum has been documenting the history of Warka and its environs. On December 4, 2015, the Museum opened a second permanent exhibition entitled: “Warka \u2013 a place touched by history.”<\/p>\n The Museum conducts scholarly activities and acts as a publisher. It popularizes music and poetry through concerts, poetry readings, and meetings with authors. It hosts museum lessons, meetings, and competitions for children and teenagers. Every year, in October, the Polish Casimir Pulaski Day is celebrated in front of the Hero\u2019s monument. Since 2005, the Museum in cooperation with the W.A.R.K.A. Association has been organizing the VIVAT PULASKI Historical and Cultural Picnic to celebrate American Independence Day.<\/p>\n The Casimir Pulaski Museum in Warka-Winiary is filled with the unique atmosphere of an old noble\u2019s manor.
