HONORARY WARKA CITIZENS
The title of Warka Honorary Citizen was established in 1973, on the initiative of contemporary Chairman of the Presidium of the National Council in the Town of Warka Tadeusz Kulawik (Prezydium Miejskiej Rady Narodowej w Warce). Many of the title-holders are airmen, who served their country and the Town, mostly in the 1st Air Fighter “Warsaw” Regiment. Others were connected with Warka on social and professional levels.
Czesław Bogusiewicz
received the title of Honorary Citizen in 1973. Second Lieutenant, a pilot in the 1st Air Fighter “Warsaw” Regiment
Edward Chromy
received the title of Honorary Citizen in 1973. Colonel Chromy was a pilot in the Polish 1st Tadeusz Kosciuszko Infantry Division, later in the 1st Air Fighter “Warsaw” Regiment, where he flew in a mission at Warka on August 23, 1944.
Kazimierz Gotówko
received the title of Honorary Citizen in 1973. Colonel, a pilot in the 1st Air Fighter “Warsaw” Regiment.
Stefan Łazar
received the title of Honorary Citizen in 1973. Colonel, a pilot in the 1st Air Fighter “Warsaw” Regiment.
Jan Okulicz
received the title of Honorary Citizen in 1973. Lieutenant Colonel, a pilot in the 1st Air Fighter “Warsaw” Regiment.
Mieczysław Podgórski
received the title of Honorary Citizen in 1973. Colonel, a pilot in the 1st Air Fighter “Warsaw” Regiment.
Konstanty Semkow
received the title of Honorary Citizen in 1973. Colonel, a pilot in the 1st Air Fighter “Warsaw” Regiment.
Borys Jelisow
received the title of Honorary Citizen in 1973. Colonel, pilot.
Medard Konieczny
Colonel Medard Konieczny was a pilot.
Ryszard Grundman
Colonel Ryszard Grundman was a pilot; from 1964 through 1973 commander of the 1st Air Fighter “Warsaw” Regiment.
Władysław Janus
received the title of Honorary Citizen in 1973. A teacher active in the peasant people’s movement. Before the War, a member of the Warka Town Council and Chairman of the Grójec District Branch of the Union of Polish Teachers (Związek Nauczycielstwa Polskiego). During the War, a member of the Home Army, noms-de-guerre “Jawor” (English: sycamore) and “Wrzos” (English: heather). After 1945, a member of the Warka Town Council and the National Council in the District of Grójec (Powiatowa Rada Narodowa w Grójcu). Principal of the 2nd Public Elementary School in Warka in the years 1938-1945 and 1949-1966. He worked as an assistant inspector and later inspector of education in Grójec in the years 1945-1949. For years, Janus was a board member of the District Branch of the Union of Polish Teachers in Warsaw.
Kazimierz Kozłowski
was an experienced medical doctor, and head of the Warka health center. Kozłowski was also a member of the Province National Council (Prezydium Wojewódzkiej Rady Narodowej) in Warsaw, the National Council in the District of Grójec (Powiatowa Rada Narodowa w Grójcu), and the National Council in the Town of Warka (Miejska Rada Narodowa w Warce), including the office of deputy chairperson.
Stanisław Marcinkowski
was a CEO of the Mazovian Winery in Warka in the years 1952-1962, later Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the Province National Council (Prezydium Wojewódzkiej Rady Narodowej) in Warsaw, Deputy Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Head of the Office of the Council of Ministers, and Chairman of the Council for the Preservation of Memory of Combat and Martyrdom (Rada Ochrony Pamięci Walk i Męczeństwa).
Wacław Król
Colonel Wacław Król was a pilot, who flew missions in France, England, and Africa. He wrote the books: “Krakowskie skrzydła” (“Kraków Wings”), “Polacy w bitwie o Atlantyk” (“Poles in the Battle of the Atlantic”), and “Podniebni rycerze” (“Sky Knights”).
Prof. Stanislaw Marciniak
(d. 1999) received the title of Honorary Citizen in 1984. He organized underground teaching in Warka during the German occupation. After the War, Prof. Marciniak opened a middle school, which later became a high school where he was the principal. From 1951, he worked at the Biophysics Department of the Medical University of Warsaw.
Witold Łokuciewski
Colonel Witold Łokuciewski received the title of Honorary Citizen in 1989. A pilot, fought in the Battle of Britain, ace of Polish air fighters, military attaché at the Polish Embassy in London in the years 1969-1972.
Stanisław Skalski
Brigadier General Stanisław Skalski received the title of Honorary Citizen in 1989. A pilot and ace in the Polish and English air forces. He fought in France, England, Tunisia, and Malta. He wrote a memoir entitled “Czarne krzyże nad Polską” (“Black crosses over Poland”).

The 1st Air Fighter "Warsaw" Regiment
received the title of Honorary Citizen in 1984 for their first mission, which was military reconnaissance of Warka region on August 23, 1944 by two Ilyushin Il-2 aircrafts.
Aleksander Gajewski
received the title of Honorary Citizen in 1992; he survived exile to Siberia and remained devoted to the region. He was an experienced teacher at the 2nd Public Elementary School and the High School in Warka; Chair of the Warka Branch of the Polish Tourism and Sightseeing Society and Warka-based Pilica Sports Club, Chair of the Casimir Pulaski Warka Town Boosters, and member of the National Council in the Town of Warka (Miejska Rada Narodowa w Warce).
Zdzisław Lejman
received the title of Honorary Citizen in 1996. He was CEO and President of the Board of the Warka Brewery, Chair of the Warka-based Pilica Sports Club, and Deputy Chair of the Social Committee on Building a Sports and Culture Center in Warka (Społeczny Komitet Budowy Ośrodka Sportowo-Kulturalnego w Warce).
Sławomir Susik
received the title of Honorary Citizen in 1996. He was CEO of the Mazovian Winery in Warka in the years 1963-1991, and Chair of the Social Committee on Building a Sports and Culture Center in Warka (Społeczny Komitet Budowy Ośrodka Sportowo-Kulturalnego w Warce), as well as Deputy Chair and later Chair of the Warka-based Pilica Sports Club.
Dariusz Kossakowski
received the title of Honorary Citizen in 2003. He was a pediatrician as well as the initiator and Chair of the Piotr Wysocki Reservist Club of the Warka State Defense League.
Władysław Gwardys
received the title of Honorary Citizen in 2003. For many years, he was Chair of the Warka Branch of the Polish Tourism and Sightseeing Society, later its Honorary President, and in the years 1980-1990 Chair of the National Council in the Town and Municipality of Warka (Rada Narodowa Miasta i Gminy w Warce).
Tadeusz Kulawik
received the title of Honorary Citizen in 2006. He was Head of the Town and Municipality of Warka in the years 1973-1981, and later Chief of the Municipal School Administration Oversight Committee (Miejsko-Gminny Zespół Ekonomiczno-Administracyjny Szkół). In the years 1984-1990, he was Deputy Chair of the Social Committee on Building a Sports and Culture Center in Warka (Społeczny Komitet Budowy Ośrodka Sportowo-Kulturalnego w Warce). In the years 1998-2002, Kulawik was a member of the Warka Town Council. In the years 2002-2010, he was a member of the Grójec District Council and in the years 2004-2010, a member of the Grójec District Board.
