Szafrany Band

A school big beat band, founded in the spring of 1965 at the Vocational School and Mechanical College for the Employed (Zasadnicza Szkoła Zawodowa i Technikum Mechaniczne dla Pracujących) in Warka. It had its debut at the celebrations of the Millennium of the Polish State on April 21, 1966. The band’s composition changed several times, and it continued to perform until the early 1980s. One band member especially worth mentioning is Andrzej Gut, who was later an active member of the Independent Self-Governing Trade Union “Solidarity,” a social activist, and member of the local government.
