Municipal Cultural Institution “Manor at Długa Street”

The Municipal Cultural Institution “Manor at Długa Street” in Warka was established in 2006. Its main goal is to meet the cultural needs of the residents of Warka and its environs. The Institution promotes various aspects of art and culture, local talents, and activates residents.

The Manor is the go-to place for various educational classes for children, adolescents and adults, including piano and guitar lessons, voice training, drama club, pottery, as well as art, chess, and robotics classes. The Institution also supports the Moderato Town Band, which is a place where generations come together. The band members can practice and learn the trumpet, trombone, transverse flute, clarinet, saxophone, tuba, bass guitar, or drums. The band has released two albums: “Swing in the old town of beer and history” (“Swing w grodzie piwa i historii”), and “Vivat Warka!” Its concerts reach local and international audiences, the latter during frequent festivals and band revues.

The Manor has a rich offer. It includes Christian music concerts called “Sing at Farna Street” (“Śpiewaj przy Farnej”), and poetic song concerts “The Manor’s Manner” (“Dworek z Piosenką”). It houses poetry readings entitled “Good Evening” (“Dobry Wieczór”), as well as drama and motion picture nights. Its stage is also used by various competitors participating in the “Warka Music Show,” “Warka Recitations” (“Wareckie Recytacje”), “Our History” (“Nasza Historia”), and other art and knowledge contests.

Open popular science lectures are yet another core element of the Manor’s activity. The “Warka Learning Academy” (“Warecka Akademia Wiedzy”) encompasses different science fields.

In addition, the Manor holds cycles of exhibitions by local artists, thus highlighting local art talents. During school holidays, students can attend free art and educational classes.

The Manor at Długa Street preserves local history, and organizes commemorative ceremonies connected with Warka’s great heroes and local and national events. Among these are the January Uprising and Colonel Władysław Kononowicz, the victorious Battle at Warka against Swedes, Hetman Stefan Czarniecki, the Katyń Massacre, World War II and those who suffered the ultimate sacrifice in serving their country, Poland’s Independence Day, the November Uprising, and its leader Piotr Wysocki. The Institution often cooperates with the WARKA Historical Reenactment Group (Grupa Rekonstrukcji Historycznej “WARKA”), which has operated at the Manor since 2014. The Group participates in local and national commemorations by raising awareness of historical events.

On numerous occasions, the Manor has supported the local government as well as other organizations and institutions in promoting tourism in Warka.

The Manor at Długa Street cooperates with all local schools, associations, and other institutions on behalf of the local community in order to reach every resident of Warka and its environs.
