The Ballad of Warka
Text: W. Grzelewski
Musical arrangement for choir and orchestra: K. Czachowski
The Ballad of Warka
Częstochowa is famous for its icon,
Chorzów for its mining and steel,
Kruszwica for the vodka beverages,
Łowicz for its vivid feel,
but Warka.. for me Warka has it all!
New York is famous for its skyscrapers,
Monte Carlo attracts flocking gamblers.
Chorus: Say what you want, travel the world,
but you will not find a more dear town than our Warka!
A town among a million other towns,
It is a one in a million town.
Just beyond the Pilica River,
There is a small stream with a beautiful grove,
Not to mention the Winiary Park,
which is a paradise for me.
Some head north to Gdańsk or Olsztyn,
Others visit Wrocław, Szczecin,
But even for a sack of gold,
I would not leave Warka for anything in the world!
What good are wealth and gold,
When the longing in our hearts stings when abroad.
Chorus: Say what you want, travel the world,
but you will not find a more dear town than our Warka!
A town among a million other towns,
It is a one in a million town.
Just beyond the Pilica River,
There is a small stream with a beautiful grove,
Not to mention the Winiary Park,
which is a paradise for me.
